Salar De Uyuni to Chile

Country forums / South America / Bolivia

Has anyone done a 3 day tour of the Salt flats ending in Chile? What time do you get to San Pedro in Chile? Also recommendations for companies are always helpful. Thanks for your help.

This is a very common route and most companies will offer this. You should arrive at the border early afternoon around 2pm to 3pm

Its a bit difficult to recommend a salt flat tour company, often they will put you with another group to make up numbers. But when you turn up in Uyuni, you will have many offers of a tour, maybe quiz them. We were lucky and ended up with only three backpackers and one driver/cook in a 4WD. if you get a chance, take the one with less than its full compliment of 6 beefy backpackers. Take some nibbles or comfort food on 3-day tour.

No need to book accommodation in either Uyuni or San Pedro, plenty available, even if arriving at midnight in Uyuni. San Pedro is a nice chill-out place after the basics of the salt-flat tour.
