Rwanda Gorilla PermitsCountry forums / Africa / Rwanda
My husband and I intend to travel in September 2011 to see the Gorillas in Rwanda and had displeasure with the Rwanda Tourisum Board site although they advised that tickets would be available but never bother to provide any payments details and information was scant. Further emails a week on with no reply nor opened and we lost interest. We contacted greg@amahoro-tours.com, who promptly return an email advised procedure and bank details etc, They AMAOHO TOURS required a deposit of USDL $555 and pay the other $555 in cash on collection, being for the 2 gorilla permits. As we have read in this forum that the extra $50 is now $55 for their services seemed alot, but we assume that they have to line up to obtain them and as the International transfer passes through two foreign banks which would have fees, we consider the effort they put in and the service they provide at this point the extra cost is worth it. We were booking a trip prior to going to the Gorilla's and feel we have peace of mind now that we can orgainise plane flights and accomodation etc.
agreed. I had Bizidanny tours obtain my permits. I think I paid them $20 extra for bank fees - so $20 on top of $500. That was for one permit. I think it is better for peace of mind to go this way. Then you can schedule them to take you from Kinigi or Ruhengeri to the start of the trek. | 1
I've had a similar experience as gorilla1. RDB replied to my first email, but did not bother to send the payment details. For the next 4 emails, I did not get replies. I even called them a week ago and they said they will send me the payment details but little they did. Therefore also I ended up contacting Amahoro Tours and I´m happy to pay the extra fee to avoid all the hassle and uncertainty, but also to save some time cause we don't have to go to Kigali to collect the permits. | 2
