Rurre 3 day Pampas tour - Prices?

Country forums / South America / Bolivia

Hola,

We want to book a pampas tour in Rurre... can we do this in La Paz, or is it cheaper to arrange one in Rurre itself. We were hoping to arrange the entire tour (return flights from La Paz and 3 day tour etc) in La Paz but are also on a budget so if it´s cheaper once we get there we´d rather do book there.

Can anyone suggest a price for a package or flights and the tour separately as we seem to always pay the most on every tour we go on! Also, any companies we should avoid completely and any reccommendations?

A 3 day tour costs 60 $ in most agencies. I heard some agencies sell it at 54 $. They all go to the same area, with the same program, although they have different lodges. I went with Indigena (they have an office at La Paz).
But in the rain season, prices may increase somewhat. The road from Rurre to Santa Rosa may also become difficult, even impossible, if it rains.

I have also heard very good reports of Indigena. And for what I have found and heard from travellers that were in the region recently, the return flight La Paz-Rurrenabaque should cost around US$ 120-130, you can always check on the website of the flight companies (Amaszonas or ? (I forgot the name of the other company, but it's in the Bolivia LP)).

arrange it in rurre - tons of agencies, lots of competition. Most agencies are cheap and ask 20 USD a day. Some are more expensive, such as bala tours, with double that price. you ll get what you pay for though.

Hi,
as said, arrange in Rurre.
I was with Bala Tours, great for the Jungle (expensive but with a really better service), but as good as the others for the Pampa and twice as expensive.
Many people with Indigenous were really satisfied, so for the Pampa I would recommend them.
Avoid Anacondas, I heard many critics when I was in Rurre (3 weeks ago).
And take potential flight delays into account. Travel with Aamszonas and not TAM: their heavier plane cannot land on a wet grass runway, so flights are even more often cancelled.
Enjoy the area , it is amazing. More info on our website: www.oneyearoff.net

Cheers
Gilles

I went with a small agency on the main street in Rurre and they were great. Good accomm, good food, good boat, all the activities that everyone else did in the jungle, and all for $30 for the 3 days. Unbelievable value. The guide did not speak much English mind you, but that really wasnt very necessary. He was a sweet man and good fun, and what he couldnt say, we worked out through some fun games anyway.
