Roraima and grand sabana. recommendations?Country forums / South America / Venezuela
Hi everyone Am heading to venezuela in a couple of weeks. Can anyone recommend a tour company for Roraima? Also, do I need to book ahead or can I expect to just pitch up in Santa Elena and get on a tour- i'm travelling by myself. Would be great to do a trip in either somewhere else in gran sabana or even up at Angel Falls after Roraima trip. Ideally i would build angel falls and roraima into same round trip- does anyone know if this is possible from, say, Ciudad Bolivar or perhaps on way back up north from Santa Elena? thanks in advance!
Hola howlermonkey100, You can definitely do both... If flying to Puerto Ordaz or busing to Ciudad Bolivar you could do the a 3 Day / 2 Night Expedition to Canaima & the Angel Falls from Puerto Ordaz or Cuidad Bolivar, then fly back to either one of them from Canaima and then get the night bus to Santa Elena de Uairen, which is where you can set off on your Roraima Trek. Please bear in mind that it is always cheaper to do the trek in a group than doing it alone. If entering the country via Santa Elena you could do the Roraima Trek first and then get the night bus to Ciudad Bolivar and fly out to Canaima from there. Another thing you might want to bear in mind is that it is slightly cheaper to fly to Canaima from Ciudad Bolivar than from Puerto Ordaz. Hope you find this info useful. All the best, Thomas | 1
Talk to Erik at Backpacker Tours in Santa Elena. He can set up both for you with no problem. We climbed Monte Roraima with his team, and later went to Magic Waters Falls (better name for Angel Falls) coordinated by his team. Excellent and capable in Roraima (where he arranges things directly), somewhat below his service standard in Ciudad Bolivar (however everything worked and the people in Canaima were good). details below: Agencia de viajes, Backpacker Tours Tel: +58-289-995.14.15 | 2
