Room in Prague recommendations please

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Czech Republic

Has anyone stayed here recently [http://www.city-inn.cz/] It could be a possibility for me. I'm looking for a budget single room, 3 nights in June, en suite, fairly close to the main train station & within walking distance of central Prague, up to 50 Euros a night. The reviews on Trip Advisor are mixed. Has anyone got any comments on the City Inn or can recommend another place. It'll be my only visit to Prague so I'm looking for the best place possible for that price. Thanks.

the reviews on Trip Advisor a pretty varied but on the poorer sise of things.
The location is great and most sites walkable or easy to get to by trams or metro which are within a minute or so of the city Inn.
personally I prefer staying futher out but near metro or trams lines , you get much more bang for your buck that way and as the transport system is so good an cheap you are not really suffering.
I am staying in the hotel Dap at Dejvicka on my next trip (late may) and have got a single room there for for less than 50 Euros a night and from reviews it is a far nicer place than the City Inn.

Thanks very much. The Dap is showing as full for the dates I need. I'm arriving by train in the evening with a bicycle so that's why I thought it would be good to be close to the train station. But there is probably a left luggage place there so I could always pick it up the next day.

there is a left luggage area and a luggage locker area but at either side of the train station, left luggage on the main floor to the platforms far right as you look towards the platforms, the locker area is on the ground floor to the far left as you look towards the platforms.
There are some fairly cheap hotels nearby, have a look at the link for hotels at the top of the page, if you need any adivce about exactly where they are i will do my best to advise.

The Hotel Chopin is right across from the train station I have stayed there twice but it may be above your budget but worth having a look.Jalta is another pretty close to the train station (2 minutes walk) worth having a look.

Thanks Craig. I decided to have a splurge & booked the Chopin.

Good Choice, I have stayed there twice, more a buiseness style hotel but got all the stuff you need, there is tea&cofee making facilities in each room (unusual in Prague). the place is spotlessly clean, breakfast pretty good , there is a safe deposit area in reception that is free, there is also and Ice machine there as well as a vending machine for snacks and drinks.Inside the train station are loads of places to eat and drink including a KFC, there is also a small Billa Supermarket in the far corner.
From the Chopin there is a good bar (Ferdinanda) about 100yards away, does good cheap food and excellent beer.
From the hotel you are a 5 minute walk to Wenseslas Square and 10-15 minutes to Old town square. Inside the train station is a metro stop thet gets you any where in the city very easily and 200 yards away are several trams.
I am back in Prague from 25th May -1st June, if there is anything you want me to check out for you just let me know, I will be there for the beer festival so sobriety might be a problem.
