Room in Chennai

good day!

I need a cheap budget room for afew days in chennai 2nd week of march. Me on a shoestring budget and wld appreciate someone recommended a backpackers' joint. Is there much to do or see in chennai?

My first time to india and have six weeks and planning to be in goa for say 2 weeks. So in between i might take to tanjure or pondicherry. Are there bikes out for rent?
