Rogers PAYG SIM in Canada

Interest forums / Travel Tech

I bought a PAYG Rogers Sim last year. Since then the credit has of course expired. Does anyone know if the card then is dead too? Will I be able to buy a top-up voucher to put on the same sim or will I need to buy a new sim card, when I arrive back in Canada?

If the simcard allows international roaming - just test it where you are now. If it comes up with "registration failed" the number has expired. Usually the numbers are re-issued after some time of expiration.

Most (prepaid) simcards I bought expired at after 6 months without use or top-up. Only a few were valid for 1 year.
Contact support to ask for the expiration policy.

When there's a online site that allows you to top-up the balance, it can be kept 'alive' longer outside the country.

Thanks - it has registered on one phone but not the other. Unfortunately, there is no way of topping up online as I don't have a Canadian credit card or bank account, which are the only things acceptable to Rogers.
I am used to UK PAYG sims which don't have an expiry time on credit. I know a few years ago Rogers cards did expire - I just wondered if they had caught up a bit and I wouldn't have to buy yet another one!!
Tried the Rogers site. They will not answer emails from individuals but offer live chat (which is closed right now) or phone, which is a toll-free number, and I can't dial this from outside of Canada.
I will try and contact them via live chat. Just wondering as am packing and if it's worth taking a spare phone.
