Roads in MongoliaCountry forums / North-East Asia / Mongolia
Hi everyone! I would be very very thankful if anyone could help me with the latest information. I will be travelling from Russia through Mongolia to China by car in July and am very interested in the state of the main road from Ulaanbaataar to Dzamin Uud to the Chinese border. Thanks a lot! Sincerely,
Matevz, if you crossing the border from Russia to Mongolia via Khiaht and Altanbulag border, then you have a pretty good road /350kms/ to Ulaanbaatar! I hope it will help you! | 1
Hopefully you know that you canNOT simply drive your car into China. The rules for driving your own are into China are complicated and expensive unless you have a Chinese drivers license and residency permit. Ruth | 2
Thank you very much, Ruth and Mongolhun. | 3
#2, I think they've changed that last year. | 4
Firearm, what is the latest development on the matter? :) Thanks. Matevz, | 5
FireArm - I have been unable to find any information to support that the rules for driving your own vehicle into China have changed. Please tell me where you found this information. Ruth | 6
I'm attempting exactly this in August. It is possible to drive your own vehicle into China, despite what others may have said in this forum. It is very expensive and difficult to do, but it is not impossible. I am using a company called NAVO to arrange the entry of my vehicle and I through the Chinese border from Mongolia. Have a look at NAVO's site, send them an email with your vehicle and itinerary. Their requirements are rather strict and laborious, such as providing color photos of your vehicle against a white background, permits, license, etc. I'll be driving through to Beijing and to Shanghai to put the car on a boat back to the United States. I'm driving around the world this year starting in San Francisco. | 7
I saw it on CCTV 9. They said they changed the rules for bringing your own car and for getting a chinese license. Of course this all depends on how long you want to keep it here. I know the temp. licenses are for 3 months. | 8
