Road to Stung Treng

Does anyone have up to date info. on the road between Kratie and Stung Treng? Alternatively has anyone recently taken a boat between these two places. Any idea of costs? Thanks.

Road is in good condition.
No regular passenger boat service when I was there.
I have no idea what a boat charter would cost.

Road with flawless now, just finished by Chinese company with Chinese funds, new bridges and stuff.

Last time I took the bullet boat was a couple of years back (check my blog). It seems boats have run out of business since road travel now is cheaper and faster. If you do find a boat please report back.

You'll find that boat transport is swiftly fading as better roads make it a cheaper/quicker option. The only people wanting to still use boats are tourists, but locals aren't interested in "scenic routes" - just trying to save money.
