Review of 3 hostels in Tbilisi Georgia

here are 3 reviews of hostels in tbilisi in case it will help someone who plans to go to tbilisi in the futurel.

1- If lying to your guests is a good thing, then choose bonney hostel which is off of marjanshvili street.

The lady that owns this hostel(which is about one year old) lied to a Canadian jewish lady working for doctors without borders(she is a nurse with them and works mostly in africa). The owner lied to her about whether there was a train or bus going to the airport. She told this guest there was no buses or trains going to the tbilisi ariport which is a pure lie.

I was in the same room as this canadian lady and told her the owner of the hostel lied to you and that there was a train as well as a bus(bus number 37) that goes to the airport from the main train station(the train goes to the airport 4 times a day and bus 37 every half hour until very late at night).

Well this canadian lady confronted the owner about her lie and was very upset at hera the owner admitted to her lie. The owner wanted to pocket some of the money for the taxi. she told her it would cost 25 lari to go to the aiport which is true but the lie was in regards to buse number 37 and train going to the airport as well.

the owner of bonney hostel has an arrangement where she pockets some of the money if they call a particular taxi company. so she will lie to you in your face.

also when i tried to get a room there, the guy who manages the place some of the time when the 2 sister owners are not there, lied to me about how much it was to stay at bonney hostel, he told me 20 dollars which i knew was a lie and started to walk away and he stopped me and said 20 lari.

Lots of noise at bonney hostel when is half full to full, people playing piano and if you are a nonsmoker, you will find plenty of people who smoke in the kitchen (that is against the law in georgia to smoke in a public place). avoid bonney hostel, there are plenty of other places to stay at in tbiliis. actually dozennnnnnnnnnns of other hostels and homestays.

be careful with bonney hostel.

2- Irene's guesthouse

I had stayed at irene's guest house 3 times(irene's guest house is next to bonney's hostel, both right off of marjanishvili street) in the past few years when i visited turkey, georgia, syria and armenia during the summer but things have changed with irene. she is making so much money now and she is so well known that she really does not care whether you stay there or not during the summer busy season. this is what lots of money does to people. avoid irene during the summer, she is packed anyway during the busy season.she charges 20 lari per night. lots of smoking going on at irene's place including in the kitchen and living room and common areas which is against the law in Georgia now.

3- romantik hostel. this is located at the basement of a warehouse. cubicals divide the guests. you can hear everything going on at the common areas, the price is 10 lari per night, the cheapest you will be able to find in tbilis along with another hostel which also charges 10 lari. bathrooms are dirty and the place gets packed(60 guest staying in one basement warehouse during the summer). hard to breath since there is not enough venlation. they close the main door with no other emergency exits at night which could kill you in case of fire. lots of smoking at this place as well. getting sleep is very difficult here.

avoid unless you only have 10 lari in your pocket. better off with couch surfing.
