Renting scooters in Mykonos & Santorini?

1) I'm reading that non-EU drivers cannot rent scooters with a normal drivers license, that a motorcycle/scooter license is necessary. I'll rent a car if that's the case, but scooters look more fun.

2) Do I need to make reservations?

Thanks!

I can only talk about Santorini. Scooters are widely available, so reserving is not really necessary and probably a bad idea (you might want to check the scooter yourself). Scooters can be found at 8 euros per day in low season, a couple more in low season, so it's very cheap (compared to say, Mallorca where you pay 4 times that amount). You need an EU permit to ride a scooter but most rental agencies and several policemen will turn a blind eye. The former are interested in your money and the latter in flirting Scandinavian girls and arresting drunken Brits.

In Santorini and many other islands I agree with yorgos .

Just came back from both islands. Santorini was 10 euros for motorbikes and Mykonos 12. That was 50cc for one day rental (for more days the price goes down and logically bigger bikes are more expensive). Btw, Santorini is now swamped with tiny 4wd motorbikes. Any normal EU car license will do for these. Locals hate them because they make noise and are so slow that they are causing traffic in the three main settlements. Didn't see any of those in Mykonos.
