Renting bicycles in Ayutthaya

Country forums / Thailand / Thailand

Can someone tell me where I can rent bikes in Ayutthaya? We would be arriving by train.

And do you know if they rent kid's bikes? Or do the adult bikes have an extra seat on the back where an extra person can sit?

One more question - anyone know what time (approximately) the earliest train leaves BKK for Ayutthaya? We will be there at the end of March, and I'd like to get there before it gets too hot.

For train timetable, there is a link on Man in Seat61 for Thailand Railways where you can find the timetable. Says first train is 4.20am. You can find the train that suits you best.Mr

I am surprised that someone as familiar with SEA would not go straight to the Thai state railways timetable for times

I assume there is a good reason why you want to get up at the crack of dawn rather than stay the night in Ayutthaya however if you really did mean the first train (or even trains) then I wonder if indeed any bicycle hire places would be open

2

Bike rental is everywhere. Nearest would be across from the train station, there are bike rentals down the lane that takes you to the ferry.

3

yes but what time do they open - personally never been there early morning but at a guess they would not open much before 08.30

4

No idea, that's OPs problem :-D

5

Not at 6am I guess. So maybe not the first train....

Anyway,as above there are several places renting bikes (though don't know about bikes for children). On that laneway mentioned above, just on the other side of the ferry crossing (on the island)and others on the main streets of the island ,leading towards the main site (the Historical Park).

This might help with places to get bikes ... decent bikes ...

There are plenty of other websites that I can go to for all my information (and I do). However I still hold out lingering hope that I might get some bonus advice here that I might not get elsewhere. Or I might be able to post a follow up question to someone who responded here. You know, the way this site used to be once-upon-a-time...

Not much to add to either Man in Seat61 or Thailand Railways train timetables.

10

Yeah well if you look at my OP you will see that I posted asking about bike rentals. The train times was an extra question that someone replying to my bike question might happen to know.

But point taken - clearly this isn't a good website to ask questions on. It passed its best-before date long ago, and I should quit beating a dead horse...

generally I agree that man at seat 61 is an excellent source of information about trains in any country. However for jjack the state railway timetable is better as it includes all the local services as well as the long distance trains and many of the crack of dawn trains are the locals

Agreed. I use seat61.com in other countries but haven't checked for Thailand. And for a third-class seat on 1.5 hour trip from BKK I really don't think it's necessary to consult. I was just curious if trains head there really early in the morning (which apparently they do).

#12, I did say there was a link on Seat61 for Thailand Railways!!
