Renting a surf board on the Pacific Coast?

How easy is it to rent a good surfboard on the Pacific coast? We are planning on going from Pedasi, to Santa Fe, to Saint Catalina back to Panama City. I was wondering if it was possible to rent/buy a good surfboard in Pedasi? Or should we stop somewhere in Panama City? (Personally, I would rather just get the rental and jet. My boyfriend is a decent surfer and would not want to be stuck with fun board in Saint Catalina. We are trying to determine if it makes sense to pay more for airfare to get an airline that is surfer friendly.
