Rent car need help

Country forums / Africa / Morocco

I have listed out the timesacle for my journey, just wonder whether it is
achieveable

24/11 set off from marrakech and stop in somewhere Dade Gorge
25/11 arrive Merzouga afternoon and heading to desert by tour(camel or 4x4)
stop in desert
26/11 take a look the villege (Merzouga)
27/11 set off back and hopefully arrive Marrakech in evening(or stop in the
middle somewhere and back to Marrakech the next day)

anybody can give me a rough idea how much the fuel will cost

Thanks a lot

Obviously the amount of fuel you use will depend on the size car you rent. But with a sub-compact car, fuel will be minimally expensive compared with the cost of renting the car. Those small cars get great mileage but be sure you know exactly which type of gasoline to put in it--I made a mistake once and really had problems with my rental car as a result. And...stop and get gas whenever you find a gas station...they can be few and far between.

Diesel is about 7.70 dirhams/litre, petrol a little more.

Do you guys thing my plan is archieveable? I will make it?

Thanks

3

It's a bit of a mad dash but yes, you can do it in the time available.

4

Yes you can make it but it will make more sense if you spend the night somewhere between Merzouga and Marrakech. Maybe in the Dades Gorge?

5

marofan,

Do you mean on the way back?
I planned to stop Dades Gorge on the way to Merzouga.

6

Either way...up into the gorge it is simply beautiful. Or you could stop in Boumalne Dades, Ouarzazate or even Ait-Benhaddou.

7

Depends on the car you rent ,it is not going to cost you more than 1000 Dh.It is good if you can stop somewhere for the night ,otherwise ;you can make it all the way to
Mrrakech,I have done many times with no problem.

Thanks for reply.

Any good place I can rent car from ? I have uk license, is that enough?

9

I have never drive outside of UK before. I am a bit worried :(

10

I usually get an International Driver License in case they ask for it...but so far, my U.S. license is all I have ever been asked for. Read the small print on the rental agreement...be sure you understand ALL the charges.
Be careful there are a lot of wild drivers and over-loaded trucks...be prepared to drive on what we call the shoulder of the road if an approaching driver won't move over. Never ever drive at night.

Any place you recmemnd for renting?

personally I don't really want to drive. But from what I read i won't make it by taking grand taxi
:(
my time is so short

Thanks
