Rejected at the Border

Country forums / Middle East / Syria

Last month, me and my wife were rejected at the Jordan-Syria border. We're British, we live in Amman, but don't hold permanent residency. We have been to the Syrian embassy in Amman, and they said they cannot help us.

1) Do you think its worth going up and trying again at the border? We think we got rejected becasue we went up the day of the Lebanese elections.

2) Is there any easier, other way of getting in to Syria, eg flying to Lebanon/Turkey and trying there.

Thanks.

Very usual. I think you are the first person that ever reported that they did not succeed in getting a Syrian visa at the border.
If you were rejected once I would advise against trying it again, although on second thought as you live in Amman it wouldn't really be that much of a loss if you did get rejected again. You migh try a different checkpoint next time.
As you don't have official residency in Jordan, your only other option is to send you passport to the embassy in London.
