Registration in Russia

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Russia

Hi fellow travellers,

I'm just arriving in Russia, an d reading the LP guide, I can't be sure if it is mandatory to be registered every night ( we are planning to stay 6 or 7 days in Russia ).
This question because we are planning to make 2 or 3 bivouacs on our route.
RR.

Actually 1 registration in 7 business days upon arrival once per trip is enough (simplest way is registration at the hotel). The rule says you need to be registered if you stay for more than 3 days one place - for example in one city. To avoid troubles it would be worth to stay for 1 night at the hotel per trip and obtain the registration stamp onto the immigration card. Most hotels accepting foreigners do so for free (but ask on the reception about it!).

Regards - Igor

Thanks for these infos.
I've been registered in my hotels but not on immigration card: on a separate document.
Do you tbink it'ok?

Usually hotels have special stamp (granted with FSB licence) for registration. But I think separate paper is o'k if it is a stamp on it.
