1 800 945 9890 blue form for longer periods of time outside usa.
My form came in today's mail. | 1
Can anyone explain us non-USAnians what this is about? Result of a class action suit or something? | 2
What did they do that was wrong? | 3
Yes, it's a class action suit against Mastercard, Visa, and Diners Club. It covers 1996 - 2006. There are 3 options: A - take $25 (suggested if you have traveled less than 1 week or spent under $2,500 during that period) B - count the number of days abroad that you've spent during that period and list what the main purpose of your trip was. The max you get back is 1% of what they estimate you would have spent based on the number of days abroad. C - detail your trips (not sure about receipts). Max back is 3% of spending estimate. I don't have the letter in front of me, but I think that's what it said. I got it in the mail this week. | 4
They raised international transaction fees, or imposed new ones, with no notice to cardholders, as I recall. | 5
Yes, affirming what I wrote above. I just submitted #2 online. I wonder how much I'll get and when. | 6
I did a little digging & this only applies to cards issued in the US. See: http://www.ccfsettlement.com/faqs/#top for more information. | 7
Thanks very much for this information. I had no idea at all. CK | 8
