K-2 is the second highest mountain at 8611m and the greatest challange the climbers.
K-2 is situated in the Karakoram mountain range which is situated between the Himalayas and the Pamirs.
The trek to K-2 base camp is the most spectacular mountain trek in the world with fantastic views of great mountains. Concordia at the confluence of Godwin Austin glacier and Baltoro glacier is the most spectacular part of this trek where four great mountains over 8000 meter stand close to each other.
With the cease fire on Siachin glacier and peace with India trekkers who remained away from this area for the past three years are returning in large numbers to visit K-2 base camp on its 50th anniversary.
The first man of this season to reach K-2 area was Dr. Ulf Riede from Zurich.
