Hi Andrew, it seems to have happened to a lot of people. I think it was people who hadn't logged in for x days before the migration. No idea what x equals, though. A lot of other people were assigned to Uganda for some reason.

We'll always be able to tell if it's the real you here on SiT...Georgian is a Romance language, right? :-)

Just noticed my profile lists my country of origin as "Ethiopia". That's false, I'm English.

I suspect this is a glitch in the transfer of info to TT4. Alternatively, it could be someone has hacked my TT account.

So please don't believe any posts apearing to come from me until I get to the bottom of this. Alternatively, if any other posters had the same experience of being reassigned to a new country, please post here to reassure me this is a TT problem.

There is a major conspiracy to discredit you so some shadowy network has hacked into your account and is spreading lies about which country you come from.

Really.

My country of origin is variously listed on TT4 as Canada or Unknown. It is, in fact, Canada and there's no question about this at all. My mother is just a phonecall away so I can ask her to be sure, but the Province of BC agrees with me, I've had at least 3 Canadian passports in my life and I've never had a reason to think otherwise. And I haven't left the country or renounced my citizenship or been even REMOTELY bad since the switch to TT4, so I'm pretty positive I'm still Canadian and not persona non grata.

Another Canadian I know now has his country of origin listed as Bulgaria. An American whose posts I'd searched a few weeks ago, last time I looked, her country of origin was listed as Uzbekistan.

There seems to have been some sort of slippage with the transfer, and certain settings slid down to the next slot or up to the one above. DianaHaddad talks about this above. At least, I THINK it was DianaHaddad, but I can't just scroll up and check with the new system! Which irritates me MUCH more than having my country of origin listed as Lower Moldavia or something.

So, no, it's not just you. It's a bit like a giant game of geographical musical chairs. Be kinda fun if we COULD all just go to the country we're purportedly from.

They moved me from Germany to Côte d'Ivoire, also messed up the whole rest of my profile except the bio, obviously also the e-mail addy, and ruined my whole registration so it couldn't be revived. That's why I had to get this new handle.

No matter how often I corrected it on TT3, I was always listed as being from Thorn Tree World rather than the UK. Amazingly, it seems to be fine on TT4.

BTW OP, if we're not to believe any posts in your name until further notice, how do we know the OP was really made by the real AndrewSmith?!
