Rarotonga... HELP ME! Vera's or Backpackers

I am heading to Rarotonga in September on my own. Not sure on where to stay must be cheap, but don't want to get bored so need to be somewhere i can meet people. Plus i want to be able to head to town on occassions too.
Have kind of got stuck between Veras and rarotonga backpackers.
Any suggestions on which i should choose.

Vara's is on Muri beach which would be my preferred location. I like Muri because there are motus (small islets) in the lagoon there. They form a beautiful backdrop and give you more to explore.

You can get to town from both places via the circle island bus.

Stayed at Raro Backpackers in March - nice friendly place, beach not great but not far to travel (either by bus or scooter) to nice beaches.
Mixed age of travellers (were both in our forties) but this didn't seem to bother anyone.
Accomodation clean and well run by Paul and Rebecca (very helpful), hillside or beach front - look up their web site www.rarotongabackpackers.com it has everything u need to know.
