ramadan and Egypt

Hi,

Me and some friends are looking at doing a "on the go" tour to egypt in setember time. I'm just wondering if anyones done this before and how it was? we're looking at the King-Ramses tour. Also, would the fact that its ramadan in september affect any of the tour? Think it would be better to go after ramadan?

You can travel to Egypt during Ramadan. It shall not affect your trip.

Ramadan is like Christmas in the West : all streets are enlightened, shops are decorated with colourful "Ramadan lamps" and there is a great atmosphere at night, when everyone goes and it anywhere in the street. It's a great time to be in Egypt (as long as you don't let yourself be "enslaved" by your tour guide and locked into shops). There'll be no changes at all for tourism, the touristic sites will be open exactly like during the rest of the year. Simply expect Egyptians to be a little more tense during daytime as they have nithing to eat, and try not to smoke in the middle of the street in front of people as they are not allowed to do it.
