Pub near Bicester/OxfordCountry forums / UK & Ireland / England
I am looking for a pub that does good food OUTSIDE of either Oxford or Bicester. Preferably in a nice village.
Hi, | 1 | |
Duke of Marlborough, which claims to be in Woodstock but is actually a little way outside it - you'd need a car. Rooms are good, too, if you need somewhere to sleep | 2
Yeah the Trout is in Wolvercote, or try Dorchester-on-Thames. Such a pretty village and has (or had, last time I was there) 4-5 pubs. Oxfordshire is full of great village boozers, you should have no problem. | 3
There is a really nice pub in a village called Launton, just outside Bicester. Google it as I cannot remember the name. It's a thatched pub with a lovley garden and really good food. Landlady's a bit of a tyrant but that's ok. | 4
Ok, i think i have decided on Woodstock (i am meeting up with someone and this is half way between the 2 of us). The Duke of Marlborough sounds like a good bet. Any other suggestions of Woodstock pubs/restaurants. | 5
Just outside of Oxford there is a village called Botley. There are a few nice pubs in this area. One I remember (while at Brookes uni doing teacher training) was the George. It did fantastic Sunday roasts and good ales. Worth a mention. | 6
The Bat and Ball Inn, 28 High Street, Cuddesdon, Oxford does outstanding food. I wouldn't stay there mind, but the food is great, expect circa £25 after wine per head for a 3 course meal. | 7
Just outside of Bicester there is a nice little pub called the Churchill in Long Crendon. Quaint and cottagy with a traditional (and yet slightly burlesque?!!!)decor. | 8
