Problem choosing between Bus and TrainCountry forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Singapore
We are still undecided to take the bus or train from singapore going to KL. We want to take the overnight train to KL but i've heard thats its really quite expensive compared to going there by bus. How much is the overnight sleeper train? and how much is the afternoon train? If we take the bus, where can we find buses that goes to KL anytime we want to? taking the bus, we want to depart singapore after lunch. can you guys tell me the pros and cons between bus and train? thanks
Mountain. Molehill. Consider flying because the scenery isn't up to much - endless palm oil and rubber plantations. | 1
Walk the causeway and get a flight from JB for 20US. Be there in an hour. | 2
This is a question I will have to ponder all weekend. | 3

From Singapore, get to Johor Bharu. From there, everything becomes cheaper. | 5
Take the overnite train. Why do you need a sleeper if you want to save cost? Done 3rd class hard bench all the way up to Bangkok many times. | 6
Bus to JB and take the train or bus from there. Pay in ringgit instead of singapore dollars. | 7
OP - a lot of posts here abt getting to JB first and then finding a cheaper way to KL. Train-ing from Singapore to KL is not worth it coz they charge u in Singapore Dollars! Go to www.seat61.com for more info on trains to KL. There are plenty of bus companies in Singapore which goes direct to KL, range from basic to very luxurious. | 8
i prefer the train to the bus. Train fare costs about 35 sing dollars. i chose the train because i wanted to sleep but if you don't mind sitting upright for about 8 hours or so, you can take the bus. The train leaves at about 10pm and gets into KL in the early morning. | 9
Air Asia will get you there for les than the train or bus. Fly. | 10
