Prescription medication in Syria

Country forums / Middle East / Syria

Hi Everyone,

Heading to Syria in late October via Dubai. My travelling partner has a chronic pain condition and takes a number of strong pain killers. We've just sorted out the letter for customs/officials in Dubai because some of his medication is on the schedule of controlled substances (not the banned list). Suddenly thought that this might be an issue for Syria as well - can anyone provide some advice?

Thanks,

Nick

Prescription? What's that? - says the Syrian Pharmacist

Seriously - I never went to the Doctors in Syria but I am pretty confident that it works exactly the same way as Lebanon, which is that the only reason the doctor writes down the name of the drug for the pharmacy is so that you don't forget it!

I think you are highly unlikely to have trouble getting them into the Country - just make sure they are all packed in their proper boxes and clearly labeled - no clear plastic bags or anything like that!

Seeing as you have a while, you may wish to do some more research into taking a small amount with you and then purchasing there - could well be cheaper.
