Prado Museum ticket pricesCountry forums / Western Europe / Spain
When in Madrid next week, we plan to visit the Royal Palace on Monday 18 Sept and the Prado Museum on Wed 20th. I am a little confused by the information on ticket prices. Booking on their websites costs €11 for the Royal Palace and €15 for the Prado (we want >2 hours, so the free entry option doesn't suit us). I read that ticket prices cost more online. Do you know what is the ticket price for people who turn up at the ticket office on the day? We plan to arrive at both places ~1-2pm. At that time of day, how long are we likely to have to wait in a queue for tickets? Or would we do better to arrive mid-afternoon? Any info/advice on these points would be most appreciated. Thanks!
Have you thought about contacting the Prado for this information? The difference in price isn't likely to matter in the context of your overall trip, but if you know what time you intend to arrive, why not just buy the online ticket? | 1
I think the difference is something like 1 euro. Personally I very rarely buy tickets in advance online for any gallery or museum, but not to save the euro ;-) Just because I like to decide what to do when I'm there, not in advance. If you are sure you want to go there, and are sure on the time you want to go....then buying in advance will save you some time in a line. 1-2pm is not the busiest nor the quietest time (in general).Madrid is pretty busy in September so I'd expect a line at that time.... | 2
Thanks. I took your advice and emailed the Prado Museum. To my surprise they replied quickly. The difference in ticket price is only €0.50 extra for online bookings, so we have booked online :-) | 3
