Poste restante Cairo - experiences

Hi all,

Looking at buying a camera on my travels and possibly getting it sent to Cairo when I'm there...does anybody have experience with the Poste restante system in Cairo, is it reliable, safe, easy enough (non-arab speaker) or should I just have it sent to a hostel I stay at?
