Pinatubo new extra fees

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Philippines

If you want to climb Pinatubo or enjoy the area... effective March 22nd 2016, there is a new fee (well, 3 fees, to be exact)... LGU Botonan Zambales new ordinance... 700 php... Collected upon entry Botolan area (filipinos and foreigners alike):

Eco-tourism fee of 100 php
Enviromental Protection Fee: 350 php
Ancestral Domain Preservation Fee: 250 php

Also if you are or look like over 40, you will have to undergo a blood pressure test... Should you have high pressure, you will be banned to climb. No refunds.

Over 60 years old, you must provide a valid health certificate.

Pinatubo is a nice daytrip... however now the minimum price will set you back around 3500 php, unless you have private transport... Come to think of it... I would not consider going there anymore... Of course I already experienced it...

It is more fun in the Philippines !

I think over 60s are now banned from doing the trek altogether regardless of what their blood pressure is.

here is an excellent account, with pictures, of exactly what to do to do Pinatubo as a day trip, as of February 2016, just before the fees were raised http://teakdoor.com/philippine-forum/163104-mt-pinatubo-trek-feb-2016-a.html

Mountain climbing is one of the things I love to do. I will certainly visit Mt. Pinatubo one day. I do hope the fee stay as it is by that time. But I will certainly gonna be here soon, the view are great and it really caught my attention. I do hope that the track or the way will be a challenging one like the other countries that I have been to and tried mountain climbing.

Looking forward to climb this soon.
