Phuket with a baby

Interest forums / Kids To Go

Hi,

My family and I will be travelling to Phuket in March with our 9 month old baby and 4 year old daughter. Does anyone know the availability of nappies, wipes and baby food in Phuket? Also, can anyone recommend a reputable baby sitting service? We are staying at the Blue Ocean Hotel (anyone stayed there).? Does anyone know if it would be possible for our eldest daughter to attend one of the kids clubs at one of the larger resorts like the Holiday Inn (for a fee of course).

Many thanks

Michelle

We've not stayed at the resorts/hotel you mention (We usually stay over at Peach Hill), but I am sure you will enjoy Phuket. Baby foods are not widely available in Thailand, or rather they are available but the choice is very limited. So take a few with you and be prepared to feed your child from your own plate (non spicy of course).
Baby wipes are widely available as are disposable nappies, but the nappies can be more expensive than at home and are not available in larger sizes. Kids clubs are a great idea if you want to take a break, and our kids have enjoyed them, all the larger hotels accept non staying children into their day clubs, there is a fee but we have found it reasonable.

Thanks heaps for your info. One more question.....can I get yoghurt in Phuket? Also is there a reasonably sized supermarket in Patong or do I need to head into Phuket town? What about food markets so that I can get some fruit and vegies for the baby.

There is a good supermarket in Patong Beach with most of the usual grocery items. As said above, larger diaper sizes are hard to come by, I think Thai babies are much smaller that western babies. I took my own supply of food and diapers for our 3yo.
