Phi Phi accomodation...going slightly madCountry forums / Thailand / Thailand
Please can someone help out, i've been browsing hotel sites, review sites, hostel sites for about 3 days now trying to decide where to stay on phi phi and it's driving me insane. I've been before and stayed at Phitarom which I have to say was fantastic for the money, clean, luxurious, chilled out, excellent staff. Now you're thinking why not just stay there again. Well, as nice as it was, it wasn't beachfront and this time on phi phi we really want a beachfront place. We're not fussy as long as it's reasonably clean, reasonably secure, friendly atmosphere and not more than about £30/night...we can go up to £50/night without a problem, but would prefer to go lower if possible. We will be staying for 6/7 nights, the final week of our 2 week stay in thailand. We want to be close enough to the village to be able to walk into town and party if we feel like it and also be able to walk back home again in a drunken state. Howevever we don't want to be too close so we can just chill and relax in our chosen accomodation if we want to for a few days. Long beach has jumped out at us, mainly because of the snorkelling and closeness to hin phae (goat reef) this is a must for us whereever we stay, has to be good swimming and snorkelling...however we're worried it may be a little too far to talk home if we're drunk. I'm going to stop rambling on now, would appreciate any suggestions, thanks!
Are you going soon? Because low season has arrived and you should be able to walk up and start looking around when you get there. However, you might book ahead for one night and move the next day.... I know you want to nail everything down now, but places that look good online might not be so good in person and in the low season it's a buyers market. Sorry I can't help you with more concrete suggestions. The last place I stayed on Phi Phi is now history. | 1
Two places I've stayed which should fit the bill - Paradise Pearl at Long Beach (Paradise Resort is just as good, maybe better according to many) and for a very laid back place on the sheltered east coast, Toh Koh Resort. I have written more on each and have some pix on two separate pages in the first link below. | 2
Um, old Alzy has logged out - and the editing function aint working. In my above answer I should have said I stayed at Paradise Resort and Paradise Pearl is just as good. Duh! Also just rememberes that last August (still in low season) The Beach Resort on Long Beach offered me a rather lovely hillside bungalow with great beach views for 1700baht walk in. I think that may be well below 50 quid. Avoid The Beach is you don't like walking steep slopes. If you like pools, it is the only place on the beach with one. But who needs pools on Long Beach? | 3
We'll be going in june, spending our first week in phuket, then second week on phi phi. I know from the last time I was there how easy it would be to walk up and get a place but my gf is adamant that we have something booked before we go...grrr, he he! Tezza...whats the snorkelling like around toh koh? | 4
so much drama for nothing. never booked more than 4 nights ahead anywhere in thailand, even high season does it matter if u are 10m from the beach or 50m? u and your gf both sound like nightmares | 5
Well you're a pleasant guy aren't you. As someone probably much smarter than you once said..."if you've got nothing good to say...shut up" ;) Hmmm...does it matter if it's 10m or 50m...well considering this is the first time i'm going on holiday in 2 years and I love the sea...yup...it does. Yes...we are nightmares...but only to idiots like you...move along please :) | 6
Good comeback drama queen. Going crazy about nothing. Who's the idiot? | 7
Hook, line and sinker...thankyou and goodnight :) | 8
That's even worse. | 9 | |
It just kills you not getting the last word doesn't it...hang on...tell you what, we'll just book 3 nights in advance and then we'll be cool in your books...yeah? Oh hang on, it's low season, so we'll need to half that...hmmm, let me see...what's 3 divided by 2...can you help BB, I can't work it out, i'm not quite as smart as you. | 10
You came back leading with you chin again :-) This is too easy. | 11
Thanks for livening up an otherwise dull morning, my mate bet me I couldn't get more than 5 replies out of you, I said I could bait you into at least 7...go on, post a few more times, then I win a fiver, that's a couple of pints later on :) | 12
