Pakistan Visa - Travelling KKH

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Pakistan

Hi all

I'm planning riding the Pamir Highway & KKH.

After alot of reading I think I have a workable solution for my chinese visa application, however I've also read that the Pakistan visa needs to be applied for whilst I'm still in the UK.

From what I've read so far it appears that Gilgit/Baltistan should not be mentioned as part of my travel itinerary and instead mention an itinerary which touches on some of the more popular destinations - Lahore etc.

Does anyone know whether it is acceptable to travel overland say from Delhi to Lahore by train. Would this be sufficient or would I also need to demonstrate a flight or similar in to Delhi.

If I do need a flight in to Delhi can anyone suggest any cheap carriers? Air Asia don't seem to fly in in to Delhi

Thanks in advance.

There are currently no trains travelling between India and Pak, but you can take a train to Amritsar, 20klms from the border. I entered Pak from India last year through Atari-Waggha border, I put this on my visa application and had no problems. If I was you, I would tell them that you are entering overland from India, visiting Lahore, islmbd and Taxilia and returning overland to India after watching the border ceremony from the Pak side. Make sure you India visa is multiple entry !

Yeah, better don't mention Gilgit/Baltistan area or trekking because they might ask to provide trekking permit on top of it,your visa could be refused due to unfortunate incident in Nanga Parbat BC.Mention Lahore,Islamabad & Rawalpindi.
