Overstaying visa by one day.

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Philippines

Hi
I'll be in the Philippines soon for 22 days-I've just read you get a 21 days visa at the airport. Anyone know if there's a fine for a day overstay? Or will it be cheaper to apply for whatever longer visa I'll need?
Thank you for any replies.

Just extend your visa once here in the Philippines. It costs 2020 pesos for the 38 day extension, if you let your visa expire it will cost you a extra 1000 pesos. Check the immigration site for a list of offices, better to go to one of the provincial ones.

You might want to check what they stamped on your passport though. The officer who stamps it writes down how long you could "stay until". I expected to see 21 days on mine but both times I went, the officer wrote down "one year". I was so stupid the first time I went. I assumed I needed an extension and didn't even look at my stamp, so I paid for an extension for nothing!!!
