Overnight train Frankfurt to PragueCountry forums / Western Europe / Germany
Ok, so I booked an overnight train from Frankfurt to Prague online with bahn.de for very cheap. There were no sleepers available for the deal, so I got the "day couch" or "compartment" as it is also called. Since then I have not heard great things about these seats for overnight trains. It will be my wife and myself. Will safety be an issue? I'm not as worried about comfort as sitting next to shady people. Are there any tips anyone can give me for this trip? Or, any comforting relief like these trains are really safe, you will have no problems. I wouldn't be too worried about it except it will be our first day in Europe and I will be still figuring things out a bit. These tickets are not refundable, but I will consider other options if I hear too many bad stories :) Thanks for all your help!
You won't be full of energy once you arrive in Prague, but there's no need to worry about safety concerns. You can lock your bags together with a bike lock for extra security, if you want to. | 1
I have been travelling many times with overnight trains within Germany as well as from Germany to neighbouring countries. So, Nothing to worry about... guess you are taking the City Night Line CNL 353 Frankfurt (22:19) - Prague (08:18) ??? City Night Line On-Board staff is also very friendly. So in the extremely unlikely event anything shouldn't be O.K. (e.g. having a drunken passenger next to you) you can simply ask the ticket conductor, if you may change to another campartment / to another seat. They'll do it. | 2
Agree with above two posters, I've travelled around pretty often on nighttrains including German ones and never had a problem or even felt threatened. You may encounter shady people, but consider that an incident that could happen to you at home too. Besides, all people on the train have paid for their ticket, so it's not very likely that you'll encounter homeless people or drug addicts or any person like that on the train. | 3
Danke everyone. Much appreciated. Not too worried about anything anymore. Chus! | 4
