What are the things "need to know" when planning an overland crossing Turkey-Lebanon??

I am,italian passport holder travelling with swiss GF.

What are the costs for getting from Adana to Beirut oder Gazainthep to Beirut??
Is there a visa on arrival at the lebanese border for EU or swiss citizens ? Costs ??

Any first hand and recent info appreciated

Well, the fisrt thing you need is a Syrian via. There is no direct border between Lebanon & Turkey.
The other thread (post #4) has information on transport which seems roughly correct.
Lebanon issues visas on arrival to most westerers including Swiss passport holders. citizens. Theoretically they are supposed to be free, however people are almost always still charged at land borders (roughly 20-30 €).

Swiss citizens do not need a visa for Turkey. The Syrian visa is best obtained in advance at an embassy in your home country.

If you take the Fergün ferry from Mersin to Tripoli (if it is still running), you need no Syrian visa, of course. Otherwise get it from the Consulat général de la République Arabe Syrienne, Rue de Lausanne 72, 1202 Genève.

Hello Poaolo...im Lebanese i came from antakya to beirut directly on a bus lately it took 8 Hours....maybe u need to go from adana to antakya "OTOGAR" (new bus station in antakya) and from there everyday at around 10 am there is a bus heading to Beirut Directly (Charles Helou Central Bus Station-Beirut) and from this station take a taxi to ur hotel (watch out for the prices) tell me later which hotel u'll be staying in to tell u how much u should pay for the taxi...what else? ...ok .. at the lebanese border u could get the visa.... but for syria i have no idea....
