What are the things "need to know" when planning an overland crossing Turkey-Lebanon?? I am,italian passport holder travelling with swiss GF. What are the costs for getting from Adana to Beirut oder Gazainthep to Beirut?? Any first hand and recent info appreciated found this info but very old http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=1592994
Well, the fisrt thing you need is a Syrian via. There is no direct border between Lebanon & Turkey. Swiss citizens do not need a visa for Turkey. The Syrian visa is best obtained in advance at an embassy in your home country. | 1
If you take the Fergün ferry from Mersin to Tripoli (if it is still running), you need no Syrian visa, of course. Otherwise get it from the Consulat général de la République Arabe Syrienne, Rue de Lausanne 72, 1202 Genève. | 2
