Orinoco for Easter

Country forums / South America / Colombia

I'm in the process of putting together a trip to the Orinoco, flying into Puerto Carreno for the Easter Week holiday March 15 to March 24. The idea is to explore by boat various tributaries of the Orinoco (Bita, Tomo, Mesetas, possibly Tuparro in the National Park) and camp on the beaches at night (the area is very safe). This is a great area for vewing and photographing wildlife (caimans, giant river otters, capibaras, deer, with any luck tapirs and tons and tons of birds). The fishing is excellent (peacock bass and big caribes (piranhas)).
Cost is around two million pesos including the flight to Puerto Carreno and everything else (food, helpers, boatman, gas (probably the biggest expense)). This is not a commercial trip but everything needs to be arranged beforehand expedition-style (flights, boats, help, food) as we will have to be self-sufficient for the duration of the trip. Please send me a direct message if you're interested.
