on phu quoc now but where is the turquoise water?

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Vietnam

Hi, I'm on Phu Quoc now. Arrived today and Ive only got 3 days. So far have only been to Long beach. Was expecting (maybe wrongly?) gorgeous turquoise water like I experienced in Thailand. I had thought this time of year would be ok here but maybe not? or maybe I need to go to another beach to get that postcard perfect water?

Hi Alice B,

Try Sao Beach... Any of the Honda Oms will show you the way...

Cheers,

William.

Weather is ok. A bit grey sometimes and there have been a few very short periods of heavy rain and liightening in the last 2 evenings. Also some hot and sunny times. So far haven't ventured any further than the hotel pool which is a bit slack!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You don't get nice crystal clear water anywhere in Vietnam. People bang on about Phu Quoc etc having nice beaches, but I have to disagree. To me, a beach is more than just sand, it also means water you can see through. You might as well be looking into the North Sea as look into the waters around Phu Quoc!

Sorry AliceB, but this kind of disappointment must happen a lot, as there are loads of posters on this forum who always seem to say that everywhere is great, when all you want is the straight truth. Here's the truth for you: Go to Thailand or the Phillipines if you want nice clear water.

I was in Thailand before Vietnam so that was part of why Phu Quoc was such a disappointment!

Torquoise wise, Phu Quoc is a disappointment so is Mui Ne, Nha Trang, China beach and Ninh Chu.
