On multiple entry visa (again)Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / India
Hi, I guess this topic has been discussed already, but I couldn't find an answer to my question, which is: I would like to apply for a double entry tourist visa. So I was thinking to book a return air ticket from, say, Delhi to Katmandu and get the double entry visa. Does anybody know what would happen if, instead of actually going to Nepal, I come back to Europe and then I fly back to Delhi after a couple of weeks. Would I be stopped at Indian border at sent back home? Has anybody done this? Thanks, Diego
NO, you would be stopped from boarding by your airline, as they are responsible for checking your visa is valid ! You would not be allowed on the plane. | 1
You need to stay out of India for 2 months even with a 6 month multiple entry visa once you have left. As number one says you would not be allowed to board your plane in Europe. | 2
But you can fly to Nepal for however(2 weeks) and come back,no problems.India takes into account your tourists needs for adjoining countries. | 3
All the answers thus far are correct. Don | 4
Yep, that is the nature of the rule now in place for some time. You get a one off from neighbor countries & Thailand somehow (and its widely written up in innumerable posts).. | 5
I've just got a double entry visa for India. When you apply for a visa, send an accompanying letter explaining your desire to visit a neighbouring country for a short time. The visa will be issued with the name of the country you want to visit named on the visa. | 6
#6,sounds good, but you might change your mind on which country you want to visit so just take your visa and go where you want.Customs might not be happy if the country you visit is not on your form.Remember, you can visit countries in the area,no problem. | 7
@6, that still doesn't help the OP, as it is not applicable to Europe, and you can actually visit neighbouring countries without it ! | 8
OK, 'adjoining' countries include: Pakistan. | 9
Sorry, slip of the digit. 'Adjoining' countries for the purpose of Indian visa re-entry include: Pakistan Right ? | 10
I don't have any reports for Myanmar and China.. | 11
Thanks very much for your replies... one further question: what if I do the following: a)get a double entry visa b)fly to India c)after a couple of weeks I fly to Kathmandu d)after a couple of days in kathmandu I fly to Europe from there e)after a couple of weeks I fly back to Kathmandu f) I re enter India from Kathmandu can you foresee any prblem? | 12
Hi You will have exit and entry stamps in your passport showing you have not simply visited a neighbouring country for tourism purposes... Whether they will spot it and be a problem needs to be answered by those with better knowkedge but I would not risk being denied boarding by the airline or refused entry. scoodly | 13
I believe not only will they spot it,they will be looking for it.As in,leaving Nepal and going to Pakistan and back.Plus,I am sure they have signed up for some Interpol watch or such. They might not see it but the computer will....Good idea though.. | 14
