Country forums / Africa / Tanzania

hi, I will be arrive tanzania ( arusha) from 19th March , then I hope start safari from 20th March .
but I am solo traveller, then I have to join the other traveller. I heard that March is low season, then
for few traveller, it is not easy depart ( join) the safari because the 4 people can not easily gathered.
what do you think that when I arrive at arusha on 19th March, it is possiblity to join departing on 20th March ( or 21, 22th ) ? OR IT is difficult ?

thanks

Its easy but shop around, I mean shop around when you arrive and don't accept the first price or first company there are two hundred of them , they want you and three, four or five people gets price down and they swap . Each person pays the same entrance fee so the cost is the vehicle and the guide and cook. The budget tours all go more or less same camp sites, same trails, same vehicle Toyota land cruiser and use same kitchens and the $1000 a night lodges see the same animals. Its an amazing experience so relax and enjoy

BUT I worry that March is " low season" ( I asked the worker of travel company in " moshi"
for organizing for joining budget safari, he said that " from March , the traveller is diminished , then HE said that it is difficult for depart safari , AND the website of famous company written in lonely planet, from " 20th March, it will be start for " rain" , then the " low season " started.

sorry but are you sure it is " easy" for join safari on 20th March??

Maybe I stayed in Moshi for a week in November and was told low season, much preferable nicer place for me to staying there than Arushi but companies in Moshi they all hook up with over 200 companies in Arushia anyway
Just my opinion you wont have a problem good luck

Hi Shany!
Three of us living in Brazil are now in Tanzania for our volunteer work. We will complete working on 15th March, 2016. From 16th March till 18th March we plan to climb Mount Meru. Thereafter we want to take 5 or 6 days budget safari starting on 19th, or 20th and 21st March. We are now searching for companies to use. Try also to make a research so that we can share minds, unite, and book together.

I booked a budget safari through Swahili Paradise which was actually recommended to me on this forum. It specializes in taking solo travellers and grouping them. I have not yet gone on the safari yet so take this with a grain of sand but it seems like they have TONS of tours leaving everyday. Hope this helps

Hi shany - I saw that you went to Tanzania last March. I'm planning a trip for March 2017 and was wondering if that really was low season. Did you have any trouble booking trips? What is the best thing to do during this time? Thanks for any help!
