Niagara Falls Tour?

Country forums / Canada / Canada

Hi everyone

My family and I are planning to visit Canada this summer. We start our holiday in Toronto and we will be staying in a hotel near the airport. We hope to take a day trip to Niagara falls and I'm just looking at our options. There are 5 of us and the advertised tours which include hotel pick up, though convenient, would cost a considerable amount given that there are 5 of us. Our hotel will offer a free shuttle bus to the airport we can take the train to downtown Toronto. We basically just want to go to Niagara Falls to see the falls. Can anyone advise on the best way to get there either from the airport or from downtown Toronto. Would really appreciate your help as it seems very expensive to take the tour option when all we want to see are the falls.

Many thanks

Best regards

Via Rail offers one trip a day between Toronto and Niagara Falls.
Go Transit, Toronto's commuter service, has trips every hour. On weekends, it is a train the entire way. On weekdays, it is a combination train and bus but the change (which happens in Burlington) is seamless and the journey is on one ticket.

All trains leave from Union Station, the same place the UP Express (airport train) takes you.

There are two bus companies that go to Niagara Falls: Megabus and Greyhound. The buses leave from Toronto Coach Terminal, three subway stops or about a 20 min walk, north of Union Station.

Of course, you can always rent a car.

If you are planning on visiting Toronto, can I strongly recommend that you do not stay by the airport? There is nothing around there and commuting into the city on a daily basis will be time consuming and expensive.

The least expensive option is to get downtown and then take the "Mega Bus" to Niagara falls. Much preferably over Greyhound !

2

Thanks so much guys. This has been really helpful. My reason for staying at airport is that it seems to be cheaper and it's not always easy to get a hotel room that accommodates a family of 5.

Grab a casino tour, gives you 5 hrs to see the falls, which is plenty, of course all have to be legal age.

at the airport you can get THE TTC bus for getting down town then transfer onto the subway. the train takes you to city core. but to get the discount train fare you must have preloaded whats known as PRESTO CARD while the TTC bus, its get , on pay exact cash fare request transfer . thats it. fare is $3. 50 ea now ithink, many in the know simply hook up with cai,sno bus to go to NIAGARA . upon arrival at casino , in front door walk aroun d a bit then exit pronto make certain of time for THAT bus dep or its costly to remedy.,

Pearson airport area. intentionaly left as a wasteland . so as to maximise cash grab from tourists.

guided tour? of toronto a bloody laugh. been here since 56. . in the city its self TTC gets you everywhere. . just remember address of accomo and ttc station/ bus destinatioin you use . . thats important TTC I fare is exact change only. get the transfer for on going trips. but note expiry info. for subway and bus t transfer good for subway and bus. no km limit as long as its valid. TTC bus on LOWER LEVEL at the airport. but make certain its TTC as other municipalitys busses are there also., there no good for getting to toronto.

Just to clarify, you do not need a Presto card for the express train. The fare is $12 without the card, $9 with the card.
