| mariannna07:41 UTC12 Feb 2007 | hello I am currently in sydney. not very well planned trip. just wanted to extend my summer this year (I am originaly from europe) and just arrived from new zeland. anyway. I am now thinking of
making a trip more into the middle of the continent. do You know any internet sites, where I could find people, who might have time - next few weeks - and car (or could rent a car with me) to do this. or maybe You, Yourself would like to travel this direction.
I already travelled through australian continent - but only mentally: to alice springs with the movie " priscilla, queen of the desert', and then with the book by robyn davidson and her camels. maybe this will be my only travel in australia, but I am still hoping to make the real journey. wishing You all the best, whenever, wherever You travel mariannaTextText

Getting from Sydney to Alice Springs is a little hard (it is not a direct road) - you might do much better to get to Adelaide via Melbourne, and have more success finding people who wish to do that drive, particularly at the end of the summer (Easter) onwards. Notices in hostels (like YHA Adelaide) might be worthwhile too. Good luck.
