| krish197103:47 UTC17 Aug 2008 | As I understand it from reading other people's posts, not much has changed for U.S. citizens in terms of the new visa regulations. I had a couple of questions so that I can adequately prepare for my upcoming trip to UAE:
-
As a U.S. citizen, I will be allowed to enter the country without a visa; furthermore, I would be able to leave and return again in less than 30 days. Is that correct?
-
What is the deal with mandatory health insurance. I have health insurance through my employer and that also includes coverage for overseas travel. Is that enough or do I have to purchase insurance from a UAE provider? I will be in the country for less than a week if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

Please see the previous discussion that we just had for info about leaving the country within 30 days. I will say that it is just speculation on my part (although I would call it 95% sure) based upon other comments that the Ministry has made. However, I have not known anyone who has actually tried it so I can't say for certain.

The mandatory health insurance rule is waived for people (like you) in the 33 countries who also get the visa on arrival. For others, it would be 40 dirhams (about $14 U.S.).
Hope that helps!
