New system for residence permits - help please!

According to this website - https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/ - visa extensions/residence permits in Turkey are now handled centrally and you should apply online. Processing apparently takes 90 days!

Can anyone shed some light on the first two items on the application form? If you click "First Application", enter the security code on the next page, and select "Short Term", the first question is "Foreigner ID number", and the next is "ID Number of Nationality". Can anyone shed any light on these?

I have a Turkish residence card already, but am getting a new passport so apparently have to apply all over again. Are they asking for my Turkish ID number (on the page for first applications!)? I don't have any other kind of ID number, except my passport, which they ask about separately. And what is ID number of Nationality?

I am guessing by this you do mean the new plastic card and not the old blue book do you?Look on the front of the card and you will see on the first line of info" foreigners identity number(yabancı kimlik numarası)"and an 11 digit number.
ID of nationality will be your passport number.

Turkish ID number appears in your Ikamet red plastic card that is the same like "Foreigner ID no" or "Yabanci Kimlik Numarasi". Usually it is started with "99 .... "

To re-apply residency permit with new passport which I assume you'll issue it in your embassy or consulate in Turkey, you may need to go out of the country so your new passport number will be registered in immigration file. I have the same experience when I applied and submitted my documentation and the local officer asked me to fly to nearest country to get the first visa stamp in my passport. This is with condition that your residency permit is still valid until the day you enter Turkey again.

I have applied my residency since September 2014 although there is no news about it until today. My legal status is only based on an official piece of paper issued by local police office. To know the new system will be interesting though :-)

Good grief that sounds like rampant laziness or lack of knowledge on the officers part!Several years ago my handbag was stolen containing my passport and the British Consulate issued a new one.When I renewed my R.V.nothing was said,they simply recorded the new details.
Last year I needed a new 10 year passport and I gave them photocopies and the originals of both the old and new passport(which had also been changed to my Turkish married name too) and they gave me back the old stuff saying it wasn't needed.They just cluncked around on the computer and updated my file and that was that.
I think the problem is that the immigration system here has been changed so many times over the past few years that a great number of officers don't really understand it nor keep up to date with each new change made.Perhaps now it is all under one centralised unit it may be better,assuming they have fully trained staff there.......

A quick update for anyone in a similar situation:

I flew to the UK to get a new passport in a hurry (and see a few friends and eat a decent curry), then came back in with my nearly-expired resident card. I handed over the old and new passport, the guy stamped the new one, no trouble.

The new online system looks a bit daunting, but is actually just a long one-page form. No trouble at all really. You also need to upload a photo, so make sure you have one stored.

After completing the form, I was taken to the appointments page, and could pick my time ad date quite easily. The next available slot was three weeks after the expiry of my visa, which is better than the two months I waited last time.

The final page was a confirmation. You get a reference number, reminder of your appointment date, and a "click here to download the application form" link. This produces a colour pdf of your personal application, with your photo at the top and all the info you previously provided already entered onto the form. Admittedly, one of the boxes contained a systems error mesage in red, but otherwise the system worked perfectly.

The only suggestion for improvement I have concerns the fee payment. I have to bring a receipt for the fee, but they don't say where to pay it. They do tell you the address to go to for the appointment though, so it's not all bad.

I have this fantasy that all the info I entered is now "on file" somewhere and the form is just a signed hard copy for their files. If this is true, then processing gets that bit easier and more efficient too!

Compared to the process to book an appointment to get a new UK passport, Turkey is a model of simplicity and good design. I was quite impressed!
