Hi guys, I am just about to embark on a trip to America and I was wondering if i purchased the above there, would it work ok in the UK?? Would there be any battery recharging issues??? because of the different voltage??
Because you charge Ipod devices through the USB ports on your computer there shouldn't be a problem. But when you get here ask the people at Apple. | 1
if there is a problem, it would be easily solved by shelling out for a new charger once you're back in the USA. | 2
You can charge an iPod either through the USB port or with an adapter you can buy separately. (Or with a thingy that goes into your car's cigarette lighter.) | 3
as with digital cameras, companies now realized that those were designed for TRAVELLING - so the product are now more adapt, and usually the chargers adjusts the voltage. | 4
APPLE stores will sell you an adapter | 5
I've been using an American-purchased iPod in Morocco for two years without problem (and I'd imagine voltage issues between those two countries would be more extreme). I just use an adapter for the plug. You can very easily buy a UK plug to connect directly to your American-bought iPod, or you can buy a plug adapter. A converter is not needed, as voltage is the same. | 6
I also want to say that the iPod shuffle is stupid. All it does is shuffle. You can't see a screen, you can't pick the order of songs. The whole point is the shuffle, in which case I'd just buy a Chinese-made fake Sony mp3 player and call it a day. | 7
