| moga04:52 UTC08 Jan 2005 | If you could do one trek in Nepal what would it be?
My situation: I have the month of March off and I will not have this much time off again for the foreseable future. I've done a lot of trekking in Pakistan, India and South America but never in Nepal.

If this is to be a one-of-a-kind and never-to-be-repeated Nepal trek, then I'd go with Khumbu (that's the so-called Everest trek). The big ones are right up to your face and I'd do Gokyo Ri and Kala Pattar for the grand views. If it's primarily culture that you're seeking, then do the Annapurna combined with the Sanctuary. March is OK but not the best month for optimum viewing conditions...but then, you might have a good karma. There are many other possible treks in Nepal, but these two are generally the most popular.

| zerooscar08:32 UTC09 Jan 2005 | I am sorry but I have more of a question for you then a feedback on your problem.
I note you have trekked a lot in India and I am interested in going Indian Himalay but have not been able to access LP book over last two weeks. Have on order but in the meantime could you tell me if it is practical to do treks there the same as I have done in Nepal.
In Nepal I have travelled on my own EBC/Annapurna circuit with no guide staying in teahouses along the way. Other than accident or such you have to be trying hard to get lost or not enjoy it and the number of trekkers and locals on the treks can address accident issue but that is something I will not seek your comment on in this post as it is my early stage of making enquiries.
PS My travels to Nepal were at different season to your request but I think EBC would offer more scenic and variety especially if you combined it with Gokyo (where I have not been) but this would be more of a challenge

| daveontrek20:03 UTC21 Jan 2005 | Hi Moga,
The Everst trek with Gokyo Ri and Kallar Patar is a good option. I have been there a couple of times during March and had reasonable weather. If you want some good snow scenes with wonderful scenery then this is my recommendation.
I have some images from the treks on my web site below should you want to get an idea of the scenery.
Have a good trek whatever you decide on.
