Nepal (kathmandu area) in Mid-December

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Nepal

Hi,
I was planning to go to Nepal in Mid-December for1-2 weeks.

Is this a good time of the year?
Is it very cool then?
How much temp. can I expect day time/night?
Would I need a jacket or is a pullover enough?

Is it better to fly in from Bangladesh or India? Any recommendations for cheap flights to Kathmandu from Dhaka/Kolkota?
Can I get flights just briefly before flying or do I have to book several Months/weeks in advance?
Many thanks!!!

Jakob

Ho jakob,
Yes, it is not too bad to travel around nepal in December, the maximum temperature at the night can go -2 and is gana be cold in the morning and evening but you can travel without any problem, many people do the trekking even at this time of the year, the day is always be good with sunshine and blue sky

There is a direct flight from Kolkutta to Kathmandu - but not daily service.
Early mornings in December in Kathmandu can be foggy and cool. Mid-days usually quite comfortable. Average temps at this time of year through January are in the 5 to 6 C range but they can get the occasional frosty morning.
Usually cool nights make for bright days after the fog clears - that's a bonus
