Neil Young Headlines BIG DAY OUT 2009 in AustraliaInterest forums / Culture Vultures
What a joke. | ||
That's on par with Springsteen playing the half-time show at this season's Super Bowl. I understand that they're iffy about who they pick since the Janet/Justin breast debacle, but since they've had Prince, Neil Young and now Springsteen. It'd be nice to have some young blood on there. | 1
neil puts on a great show. just opened up with a more than stellar 'love to burn' the other week at farm aid and with my morning jacket playing as well.....sounds like the perfect match! (for a madison, wisconsin show with blitzen trapper and the fleet foxes on the small stage that is) | 2
It would be more of a joke if he headlined THE BIG GAY OUT. | 3
Midnight Oil weren't available? | 4
It could be worse. Jet for example. | 5
I'm not sure the line up is worth the ticket price. The only bands I'd be interested in is "Arctic monkeys" & "The living end" & the latter I'm seeing (again) at the " Pyramid rock festiva l" along with "Black keys" & "Gyroscope". I'm assuming AM will have separate gigs as bands usually do when they come to the festivals here. So I'll try for tickets then. Might to the same (hope for separate gigs) when it comes to Soundwave as I'm only interested in "Scars on broadway" & "Alice in chains". Then again I do love festivals so I might just get tickets anyway.. | 6
I hear screaming and bullwhips cracking.. | 7
Yeah, I have Neil Young live at Massey Hall (thanks Mud_Hut) but Neil Young really just comes across as being a bit of an egohead on that thing. If only he just didn't talk. Perhaps he was better back in the day, but you had to be there at the time. Anyway, BDOs in Australia are young bogan Australians running around, caped in Australian flags with behaviour that makes me just feel old. It used to be about the music (and some nice soft fluffy drugs), but now it's a bit mad, isn't it? Oh well, viva Neil Young. | 8
Is he playing with Crazy Horse at The Big Day Out ? | 9
Doesn't say so. | 10 | |
When's The Hoff gonna get a BDO gig? | 11
I think Neil asked him to support, but instead they got WILCO!!!!! "Wilco will be supporting Neil Young for two weeks beginning in late November across Eastern Canada and the Northeastern US. The dates are posted at http://wilcoworld.net/tours/index.php" Please come and support his side shows in Australia too? | 12
When's The Hoff gonna get a BDO gig? When he sobers up... | 13
well if the farm aid show a few weeks back is any indication (w/crazy horse) folks should be in for a treat. but as thoughtpolice already mentioned neil without crazy horse (or whoever else he may be touring with) is utterly different. geez lessthanstellar, your massey hall comment is making you sound old! :) it's like saying you're not gonna go see the dylan show next week because you just picked up the "banjo tape" from 1961 and didn't like it! | 14
Has Neil Young learnt to sing through his mouth yet? Or is he still doing it through his nose? | 15
fall tour kicks off tonight in st. paul without crazy horse. fall tour lineup consists of: Neil Young - guitar, harmonica, pump organ, vocals no information on which orifice he's using. | 16
I know loads of people in their late 20's/early 30's who are big Young fans. I agree, the line up is shit. Last year was good. I said that day, that it was the last BDO I would go to. | 17
Ria, I've seen the Black Keys a couple of times, and I reckon they rawk. | 18
