myrtle beach OR SAN DIEG0

Country forums / United States of America / United States

some of my friends are going to myrtle beach,SC this summer to sell lemonade on the beach. i am also offered a job to work at a pizza restaurant but i am still not sure whether to go to san diego and work at san diego zoo or go to myrtle beach and work at pizza restaurant. san diego is very expensive city and its hard to save up money but may be its easy to find the 2nd job.

what about myrtle beach? if you were in my shoes, where would you go? SD or Myrtle beach,SC ????

No question, San Diego. I base this on many, many trips to Myrtle Beach (my parents have a place there), and living in SD for 5 years. Go to SD.

Take it from someone who has been to all 50 states: San Diego.

I went to uni in San Diego, but am from the South and have gone to OBX a few times with the fam. Trust me, go to San Diego. Jobs aren't hard to get at all (that me illegal mexican comment is just ignorance). San Diego isn't that expensive (although I do live in Manhattan at the mo). But PB is pretty cheap to go out in and in terms of accom you'll be fine, especially if you are going with a group of friends. Jobs, also, aren't hard to come by at all. You can always work at a bar or at a restaurant. Also just to say that you worked at a world famous zoo is pretty cool in itself.

Hope this helped. :-D

San Diego is not that expensive. Land/housing can be expensive, but not unlike the rest of California.
Something else to consider: June gloom in San Diego. It's the weather pattern that usually makes the coast fogged in for nights and mornings, if not all day, during summer.

Uh, Aimes, I think #2 is being just a wee bit sarcastic...

i was told to stay at studio 819 in Hillcrest district. it costs 740-760$ double in a small studio for a month! it sounds reasonable... what can you say about Hillcrest? is it a safe area? dos and donts???

Hillcrest is fine - known as the gay area of town. Has great restaurants and shops and is very walkable. From what I recall, Studio 819 is on the east end of the main street. Quite close to Studio 819 is a great little dive bar called the Alibi with a couple of pool tables. Good fun!

Oh, I would vote for SD just because I want to live there so bad and hopefully will sometime in the near future! :)

SD's expensive by anyone's standards now.

PB used to be a deal but expect bedrooms to run $700-900 now. It's nice though and walking distance to the bars.

I'd do SD in a heartbeat but your money will go farther down in SC.
