Country forums / South America / Venezuela

Hey.

Any suggestions for must-see -places in Venezuela???

We have already planned to go to gran Sabana, Rio Caura, Puerto Columbia....

Nille

I think, Canaima with Angel Fall is a must-see.
But of course it depends on what you like (beaches, trekking, animals, ...) and how much time do you have.

Jens

The three day trip to Angel Falls from Ciudad Bolivar is a MUST DO, you'd be crazy not to go there, being in Venezuela.

I recommend Sapito Tours. Was brilliant and got by far the best camp.

But please do remember to take dollars with you as you get double it's worth on the street. Also, pay agencies in dollars if you're not able to change them somewhere.

When is the best time to see Angel Falls at its best?

Angel Falls is at its best during the rainy season (June - late November) nevertheless it has been quite wet recently. I strongly recommend the falls. Other options could be: Roraima if you like trekking, Puerto Colombia if you like the beach and a bit of partying and dancing to the rythm of african drums, the llanos if you're into wildlife observation, you might even get to see a giant anaconda, rio caura or th orinoco delta if wanting to visit indigenous communities and observe some wildlife, Merida if you want to do some trekking in the Vzlan Andes, do some paragliding, mountain biking or canyoning, and Los Roques for some excellent diving or for just relaxing on the beach before heading home.

As you can see these are just a few of the options Vzla has to offer. In this diverse country we have so much to offer that actually pointing out the highlights is an extremly difficult task.

All the best,

I would like to do Roraimar and Angel Falls at their individual best

I was thinking of hanging in that area March/April/May? and when mission is accomplished head down to Manaus and continue on a boat south to Porto Velho.

I really like Puerto Colombia area also. Nice beach and good treking in park

I hear the teleferico is down in Merida. Too bad. It's a nice trek down after an unbelievable ride up. Hope they get the French to supply parts and labor to get it up again.
