Mu-Bali

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Indonesia

Hi folks. I haven't been around lately, but am back, planning a trip to Bali for 10 days from 7 September 2007, and so will start adding to my Bali Blog in case you're interested. There are too many places I would like to stay in Ubud: the Tjampuhan, Murni's, the Tegal Sari, Honeymoon Guesthouse, and numerous others. What about the Kuta region though? Previously, I have stayed at the Three Brothers Inn in Legian, and at the Puri Tantra Bungalows on Legian Beach which I think are no more. There was also a regrettable error when we stayed at the Resor Seminyak. That's the kind of place we don't want to stay at.

I have been looking at Mu-Bali, recommended by the excellent Natural Guide to Bali. It is down near Uluwatu. Anyone been there? Its website sure looks fine, but you can never trust a website...

The Tjampuhan is nice, but.... When we went there we stayed in an above standard room with AC, and the bed was two singles pushed together!! What made it worse was that they were at two different heights!!! Was not very romantic.... Also, because of all of the tall trees, it can be quite cool swimming in the pool (yes, cold even in Indonesia!). Also, it is a bit of a hike from the main part of town (there are complimentary buses if you are organised)
Don't know about Mu-Bali, sorry....

I have just booked into Mu Bali for my honeymoon for 4 nights in the cliff room. I have been recommended this by some close friends that gave it glowing reviews. They really enjoyed their time there and talked me and my fiance into booking there. Apparantly there is not alot around the area except and amazing beach that has beautiful sunsets. The meals are a communal thing with the rest of the people staying there at the one table as the place has a maximum of about 25 guests. I hope this helps.

We stayed at the Tjampuhan in April and we loved it. The only problem is we were on the bottom! 108 stairs makes you check your pack twice before leaving for the day! The staff was very accommodating for our every request and we would certainly go back.
Murni's is a gem as well- we ended up there several times, partially because it's so close after a long day, but it was a lot of fun.
About a five minute drive from the Tjampuhan is a little warung by the name of Bubu's. If you ask around at the hotel, someone will be able to direct you, though I would recommend getting a ride. It is very cheap and had delicious food. We went there 3 nights in a row, and were never dissapointed.
