Hi Fellow Travelers, | ||
I take it you went to the police to report it | 1
And the police if you're lucky will give you a reported stolen report then send you on your way. | 2
If you have insurance, you'll need a police report. If Anglesey has "lost" items here, now is your chance to say so. | 3
If you have insurance, you'll need a police report. If anyone else has "lost" items here, now is your chance to say so.... | 4
Okay if the excess on an insurance policy is fairly low. I can buy one cheaper than the excess on the policy I usually use in NZ. | 5
Depending on quality, you're probably only talking US$10 - 30, so not that much. Annoying nonetheless. I'd be interested to hear more details, seems strange this was all that was taken. Also, this is just the sort of item that often gets left (still plugged in and charging) in hotel rooms. | 6
Seemed the most popular item in any sort of shop or stall selling electronics and not really sellable for a small fortune. | 7
For the record, I would have never posted that my powerbank was stolen if I did not know for a fact that it was stolen. What are the details? I walked up, dropped off my backpack with the powerbank in one of the side pockets. When I retrieved my bag several hours later, i discovered it was gone. I did not use it at the terminal or the previous hotel and know it was in that pocket because I placed it there and it was the only Item of value. I paid $30 for my powerbank. People do steal things that do not belong to them. It’s not that uncommon. My only intent was to warn travelers not to use that left luggage location as I suspect they have engaged in this type of stealing before. I did not post it to look for advice, request police reports, or to solicit help to determine if it occurred or not. I know it occurred and would like other travelers to beware. Surely, it is not an expensive item but it does not negate the fact that someone in the shop is a thief. That’s the bittom line. | 8
But if you only post on it here it what does it do. If you have something stolen you need to report it too the police and that is the only way there is any chance of it being stopped. | 9
From past experince of a theft, police just file a report and send you on your way. | 10
I have just re4ad the OP's explalnation and I'm now not in the least convinced it was stolen....far too many assumptions. | 11
Some of these comments are the most ridiculous responses I have ever seen posted to a blog. You would think some of you are some how affiliated with the Mo Chit Bus Terminal Left Luggage. The assumption that anyone would come here simply to post something that is not true is rather ridiculous. To question someone and chastise them simply for trying to warn anyone is equally ridiculous. I had not idea that this site was this immature. | 12
You are correct, but apparently some people here think that I posted this for advice. Maybe they can't read. Who knows. | 13
I get a strong impression that this isn't so much a warning but a venting of anger or frustration. I think the one thing that others can take away from this is to be careful/mindful when storing stuff. make sure you have a system of packing whereby everything has its place. | 14
khunwilco, As I indicated, I don't need your advice or your psychological evaluation. Have wonderful day. | 15
QED | 16 | |
Correct, as is the QED. ;-) | 17
Hi Ruth, I understand your frustration, but there are many posts on here from people who are certain that a particular place has somehow cheated them. Often these claims don't seem to hold water. I asked for more details because it didn't seem logical that someone would rummage through your backpack and only steal one item. You clarified by saying that the powerbank was in a side pocket and so easily steal-able. As said above this is a lesson for packing, maybe not one you want or need, but possibly useful for others, so your post will prove useful for them. Nonetheless, if the item was easily steal-able by the left luggage place then it could also have been lifted at any other time by a half competent pickpocket. Even a helpful taxi driver could have done it while putting your luggage in his boot (trunk). I feel that if you went to the police, the first question they would ask is did you check the item was there immediately before depositing your pack in the left luggage and then again, immediately afterwards. Enjoy Cambodia. | 18
