Mexico and Cuba 15 days tripCountry forums / Mexico / Mexico
Hello:) We are two Romanians both residing in the UK. We are planning a trip to both Mexico and Cuba. We have never been to neither of the two countries and are not sure about the legal requirement concerning Mexico. No visa required, that's clear... But, on the Romanian gov website it is stated that we'd need proof of accommodation in Mexico, does that mean our friend would need to write a legal invitation letter for us? We'd love to hear your opinion! Thanks!
Where are you flying out of? | 1
Check the Mexican embassy website for rules about admission to Mexico. Is your friend in Guadalajara, is that why you´re going there? If you arrive in Cancun in the afternoon, and your departure is the next day, staying overnight in Cancun seems obvious. | 2
Mc, Romania is a country where a Mexican Visa is not needed........ | 3
While I can't say for sure anything about the requirements for Romanians, for Canadians and Americans - countries also not requiring a visa - the address comes into play when you fill out the "FMM" form. This is an immigration form you fill out on the airplane. There is a section in which you provide the address where you are staying. As a resident of the Yucatan, of course I would say you should explore the Peninsula after landing in Cancun. But I guess you have a reason for going to Guadalajara. Rather than staying in Cancun, consider staying in Puerto Morelos. | 4
As I fly to Mexico every year, my recollection is that on the tourist visa form they distribute during the flight, they only ask for the city you are visiting. Not an actual address. | 5
When I flew in here last month, the Immigration form did ask for an actual address of the place I was staying. I wrote down a street name, but not a number, and in the end I didn´t actually stay at that hotel. | 6
Yep, it's pretty much just a formality. You can write down any old hotel (unless you somehow really get their attention and they decide to make an issue of it). Hey, Guadalajara's a great city... | 7
We'll fly from London Gatwick Airport. Waiting for TUI flights to get as cheap as 279 GBP for the return trip to Cancun between the 7th and the 21and of January :). I've got my mind set on Guadalajara now so, I'll stick to the plan as I have a friend who will be moving to Europe soon so I better visit while still there! This will be a quick trip anyway and will do a more extensive one later next year hopefully and will take your advice to visit the Peninsula into consideration. Cheers! | 8
Many thanks for the info! As I have just mentioned in a reply to the above response, I have my mind set on GDL as having a friend there but I will come back to Mexico for an extensive travel and will definitely explore more of the Peninsula! :) | 9
